Berniya and Riya Hamie form two-thirds of the Astatine Trio that gave NYS such a brilliant concert last month.  We are very grateful to them for stepping in to replace the Lisneys.  

The Astatine Trio has recently become Britten Pears Young Artists for 2023/24. and are benefiting from the mentorship of Alfred Brendel. Berniya is a full-scholarship student at the RCM and has performed at the Wigmore Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Cadogan Hall, Purcell Room and Royal Festival Hall.  As well as being the Astatine's pianist Berniya is also the cellist in a prize-winning string quartet - the Fiora. 

Berniya & Riya have given numerous Duo recitals including one in the Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room in February 2023. Riya, 18, is a full scholarship student at the Royal Academy of Music as the recipient of the Sir Elton John Award, studying cello with John Myerscough.  She won the college's Peter Morrison Concerto Competition – resulting in a performance of Dvorak’s Cello Concerto with the RCMJD Symphony Orchestra in March 2022.
